Tai Chi in Utah
In a Google Search of Tai Chi Utah, TaijiUtah.org hardly existed, until 2/08/2009. We made it into the top 50. It’s sort of surprising because we don’t strive to use the cryptic and out-dated T’ai-chi Chüan, at least not on purpose, on this site.
If you’d like to author an article, you’re welcome to use it, but you should know the difference. Dragon Studios explains that Taijiquan is:
Romanized as T’ai Chi Ch’uan, or simply Tai Chi

International Standards Organization Members (Green)
It’s the Wade-Giles Romanized version though, so it’s a bit like using English measurements instead of Metric measurments. A quick note taken from Wikipedia reveals that Taijiquan is the International Standards Version…
Pinyin, more formally Hanyu pinyin, is the most commonly used Romanization system for Standard Mandarin….Developed by a government committee in the People’s Republic of China, the system was initially approved by the Chinese government on February 11, 1958. The International Organization for Standardization adopted pinyin as the international standard in 1979, and since then it has been adopted by many organizations worldwide. [emphasis added]
So we call this TaijiUtah.org, because that’s the International Standard. Like English vs. Metric systems of measurements, the U.S. often seems a bit (perhaps arrogantly) behind.
In any case, here’s the top Tai Chi Utah Google searches on 2/8/2009.

I like how you know PinYin! Impressive. It is good to know that since the words are chinese english will never be more than an approximation. Knowing Wade-Giles is good too for being able to research translated documents.
